Huawei and Vodafone Egypt today announced that the Huawei Active Antenna Unit (AAU) solution will be commercially deployed in Egypt to build Vodafone’s mobile broadband (MBB) network.
Vodafone Egypt, the leading mobile operator in Egypt, is committed to providing high quality wireless communication services to its subscribers. The MBB market in Egypt is developing rapidly and the demand for new sites has increased tremendously to meet these capacity requirements.
The Huawei AAU solution is developed with the purpose of integrating antenna and the radio module. The integrated solution helps to reduce base station site space by up to 75% in comparison to traditional site solutions. AAU solutions support both high and low frequency bands. At the same time, the Huawei AAU protects operators’ CAPEX by supporting future LTE evolution with no additional antenna deployment needed.
Osama Said, CTO of Vodafone Egypt, said “Huawei AAU solution fits our demands. This solution will make our site resource more efficient and reduce the site complexity which will put Vodafone Egypt ahead of other carriers in Egypt.”
To date, the Huawei AAU solution has been trialed and commercially deployed by 37 operators in China, Canada, Russia, as well as other countries in Europe and South America.”
