Aricent, a global innovation and technology services company, has announced that its ISS Metro Software framework has been selected by Santa Clara, US based Tarana Wireless, a global wireless transport solutions provider for last-mile links challenged by interference, obstructions, and dynamic change.
Aricent’s innovative ISS software is a complete Network Operating System. The solution is packaged with rich features like chassis management, system startup infrastructure, portable library for OS abstraction, persistent database, hardware abstraction to support chipsets from Marvell ( Linkstreet, Prestera) and Broadcom ( Saber1/II, KatanaI/II, Triumph, Trident2 etc).
Aricent’s carrier Ethernet software provides provider bridging, Ethernet Fault Management ( 802.1ag), Performance Monitoring ( Y.1731), Y.1564, RFC 2544, ERPS, ELPS, IP/MPLS, MPLS-TP, RSTP, LDP, VPLS, L3 VPN, L2 VPN, IGMP, Multicast and Time Synchronization solutions – 1588v2, Synch-E. ISS management software is highly programmable, easy to integrate and provides SSH, SNMP and CLI interfaces. Aricent’s ISS also enables next generation networking through OpenFlow, NETCONF and YANG management interfaces.
Commenting on the win, Rakesh Vij, Chief Business Officer, Aricent said, “We are glad to collaborate with Tarana in rolling out our network solution to multiple tier-1 fixed and mobile carriers. Aricent ISS software is our industry leading solution, and shares a successful history with network equipment providers to build next generation networking products” He further added, “Aricent ISS metro software is widely used framework, it is being used by 100+ customers and deployed in leading carrier networks across the globe”.
“Our customers in all segments naturally require that our breakthroughs in radio performance are coupled with a fully-featured, world-class network layer. Choosing the right networking software solution was important to our success, and we are very pleased with Aricent’s advanced Ethernet features and modular architecture,” said Steve Sifferman, President and CEO, Tarana.
Addressing persistent challenges in both fixed and mobile networks, Tarana has combined many antennas, unique algorithm innovations, and expert implementation to create the industry’s first truly viable wireless alternative to prohibitively expensive last-mile fiber. The company’s AbsoluteAir product line offers fundamental advances in wireless performance and autonomous adaptation that yield dramatic improvements in the economics and deployment flexibility of fiber extension, radio network backhaul, and fixed access.
