Singtel acquires Trustwave, Strengthens global cloud-driven managed security capabilities

In its bid to cement its global position in the cloud computing driven managed security space, Singapore Telecommunications Limited has completed the acquisition of Trustwave, a specialist in managed security services.

This acquisition is set to considerably expand Singtel’s line-up of cloud-based solutions and build on its vision to be a global managed security services provider.

Headquartered in Chicago, Trustwave is a managed security services providers in North America with significant presence in the United States and Europe. It will maintain the Trustwave brand and operate as a standalone unit within Singtel Group Enterprise.

The acquisition enables Singtel to gain a number of Trustwave’s cyber security assets and capabilities including:
Enterprise-grade managed security services for threat, vulnerability and compliance management delivered through the unified, cloud-based TrustKeeper® portal
More than three million business subscribers (including 10,000 managed security services enterprise customers) in 96 countries
More than 1,200 security-focused employees located in 26 different countries
World-renowned Trustwave SpiderLabs® ethical hacking and threat research team

Trustwave also adds six more Security Operations Centre (SOCs) –- four in North America, one in Asia Pacific and one in Europe – to Singtel’s existing SOC in Singapore and planned SOC in Australia.

This increase in global managed security services capacity enhances Singtel’s ability to provide real-time, round-the-clock support for enterprise customers around the world.

The Growing Managed Security Services Market

The managed security services industry is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years due to the increasing frequency and complexity of cyber-attacks. The global managed security services is estimated to grow from US$15 billion in 2015 to US$27 billion in 2019, according to the latest 2015 Gartner Information Security Forecast report.
