Important facts - Reliance Jio has been free for users since the launch in September | Disconnection of users who have not recharged so far has started now
Last week only, Reliance Jio had announced a new offer for people who had not signed up for its Summer Surprise offer. Christened as the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, the plan was predominantly the same as the Summer Surprise Offer, giving three months of 1GB per day usage to anyone who recharges for Rs. 309, plus another Rs. 99 to subscribe for Jio Prime.
At the time of this announcement, Reliance Jio had mentioned that users need to subscribe to Jio Prime membership plan and buy the Rs. 309 or Rs. 509 recharge by April 15 in order to "to avoid degradation and/ or discontinuation of services."
That process of disconnection has started now – for those users who haven't recharged their Jio number yet.
However, this process of disconnection is not going to happen in a jiffy and for all its unsubscribed customers all at once.
Some users have already received the message about the disconnection, while for others it will take a little longer, and over the next couple of days it will happen for all users who have not recharged their Jio numbers so far.
An internal communication to Reliance Jio Infocomm employees mentions that “from midnight onwards degradation of select non recharged customers will start. The customers will be a mix of different types of customers across all JCs. The sample size will be small tomorrow and will ramp up later.”
“Messages will be sent to these customers informing them of the degradation and urging them to recharge immediately. The message will say that all data and outgoing calls will be barred. In reality outgoing voice calls will be allowed between Jio and Jio customers tomorrow and pulled back later,” the internal communication further states.
In order to to avoid degradation or disruption in services, Jio customers need to spend Rs 408 and get unlimited data and voice calls on 4G networks for 3 the coming months time.
