As Mukesh Ambani driven Reliance Jio has become the first company in India to get a Unified License to operate in circles of the country, it is set to change the face of communications in the country and can launch an array of services on voice and 4G on FD LTE.

This kind of unique unified license would allow the Reliance group company to offer all telecom services including voice telephony under a single license. This is set to create uniquely positioned standards in the telecom industry.

Led by Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) is a unit of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), and has received unified license for all 22 service areas (circles) across the country. RJIL is the first telecom operator in the country to get pan India unified license. However, there is still no word on the launching of services from the Reliance group so far.

“With grant of unified license, RJIL has migrated its existing ISP license along with broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum to the unified license with authorisation for all services, except global mobile personal communication by satellite service (GMPCS) under unified license in all service areas,” a release from the company has said.

This implies that even if the company does not participate in the upcoming 2G auctions early next year, it will have all the capabilities to offer voice services over the Internet (VoIP) to customers, wherein calls will be allowed to terminate on regular mobile numbers. This will deliver unique positioning to Reliance Jio.

Additionally, Jio has also received a Facility Based Operator License (FBO License) in Singapore which will allow Reliance Jio Infocomm Pte Ltd. to buy, operate and sell undersea and or terrestrial fibre connectivity, setup its internet point of presence, offer internet transit and peering services as well as data and voice roaming services in Singapore. All these arrangements are set to power Jio to greater heights and also deliver unprecedented communication services for its customers.
