QuickPlay Media, a provider of cloud-based managed service solutions for the distribution of premium media to IP-connected devices, has launched its delivery centre in Chennai, India.
This launch is part of QuickPlay’s industry leading effort to support new devices, networks and features with its end-to-end managed service solution by bolstering its service delivery capabilities for customers globally and in Asia.
Through its modular OpenVideo Platform, QuickPlay provides multiscreen solutions, including Live TV, Video on Demand and Media Transformation for operators, broadcasters and multichannel video programme distributors (MVPDs) looking to roll out TV Everywhere and Over-the-Top (OTT) services.
The investment in the Chennai Delivery Centre will not only drive greater operational excellence but support development initiatives across the region. Globally, Asia Pacific is a critical market as it boasts the some of the largest broadband, wireless and PAY TV markets. According to Digital TV Research, the region is projected to account for approximately 60% of global pay IPTV subscribers by 2020; up from 38% in 2010.
“The launch of the Chennai Delivery Centre will play a significant role in QuickPlay’s expansion plans as we continue to address customers’ challenges with meeting rapidly growing consumer demand in Asia and across the world”, said Wayne Purboo, CEO of QuickPlay Media. “With Asia on the leading edge of OTT and multi-screen premium video growth, QuickPlay is poised to take advantage of market dynamics and support our customers in delivering best-in-class TV Everywhere services”.
QuickPlay’s end-to-end managed cloud services handle the most resource-intensive parts of offering premium video and live TV to multiple screens on behalf of customers such as: AT&T, Rogers, Bell, TELUS and Verizon. In addition to its existing VoD and Media Transformation services, QuickPlay now manages over 580 live channels and 30,000,000 consumptions per month through its global network operations center in San Diego. With the launch of LTE broadcast trials and Dynamic Ad Insertion in September, it is well positioned to deliver continued innovative enhancements and features to customers via its managed services capabilities.
