In a major development, global telecoms gear manufacturers, Nokia and Alcatel Lucent are engaged in serious talks on a possible merger.
Keeping in mind its set of patents around the next generation 5G communication technology, global telecom gear maker Nokia's possible acquisition could pave way for creation of the biggest telecom gear organization in the world and deliver the next generation in communications for their global customers in a seamless manner.
As of now, both these organisations are engaged in talks in order to create better synergies. However, the organisations have confirmed on the uncertainities around the merger talks as well.
Both these organisations have issued a similar statement to the media which reads, “In relation to recent media speculation Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent confirm that they are in advanced discussions with respect to a potential full combination, which would take the form of a public exchange offer by Nokia for Alcatel-Lucent. There can be no certainty at this stage that these discussions will result in any agreement or transaction.”
Both these organisations work very closely with most of the global telecom operators, carriers, ISPs and Communications Service Providers, in terms of devising and implementing their network rollout and enabling their next generation network architecture.
