KPN has engaged in a partnership with China's largest internet software company Tencent ('WeChat') and internet video operator Sunway Culture Media ('Sunway') to launch the WeChat Go SIM card for Chinese tourists travelling to Europe.
Besides voice and 4G data services the WeChat Go SIM card proposition also offers additional features such as travel information, Chinese video content, top ups and social media into one application to support Chinese travellers in any EU country.
The proposition will be available from the start of July on China's well known ecommerce platforms, airports and high traffic destinations for Chinese travelers in Europe.
Tencent launched WeChat in 2011 and today the application has more than 850 million users.
Sunway operates the largest overseas video service for Chinese content and has developed the WeChat Go proposition.
WeChat has reached an agreement with European operator KPN to launch a new European countries roaming SIM Card in July 2017 for Chinese tourists travel to Europe.
