Global communications platform Infobip brings together global mobile communications company Nokia, mobile industry association GSMA, Croatian telecom operator Croatian Telekom (Hrvatski Telekom) and other companies at its developer-focused Shift conference this year.
Following several successful partnerships launching Camara-compliant network APIs under the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, telecom operators and MNOs around the world are eager to launch and monetize emerging and future services. Many companies still need to improve their relationships with developers to achieve this quickly and efficiently. That’s why MNOs are participating in Infobip Shift this year.
Matija Ražem, VP Business Development at Infobip, said: “We are among the first to support the Camara project and the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, and to work with telecom operators to offer new value-added services. Our collaboration with Nokia, GSMA and other MNOs at Shift Zadar demonstrates how we are working with telecom operator partners to expose APIs to developers that facilitate the customer experience.”
At Shift, Elmo, a technology and automotive company, will showcase its remote driving technology that allows attendees to drive a car in Finland from a console in Croatia. Elmo has worked with Nokia to implement its Network as a Code API to control Elmo cars remotely by operating the remote console via Croatian Telekom’s 5G Campus Wireless network and will be supported by Infobip and Croatian Telekom to bring this experience to guests at this year’s Shift Zadar.
“The work of building the network API ecosystem has progressed remarkably this year. This important developer event, organized by our partner Infobip, once again highlights the strong interest in this ecosystem around the latest information and solutions as we move forward to make it easier for developers around the world to use the network’s capabilities and develop new use cases for their customers,” said Shkumbin Hamiti, Head of Network Monetization Platform, Cloud Services and Network Services at Nokia.
For the GSMA, one of the main sponsors of this year’s Shift Zadar conference, the Open Gateway initiative plays a crucial role in the ecosystem of telecom APIs combined with CPaaS APIs. “The GSMA’s Open Gateway initiative continues to grow and has led to the birth of a new era of APIs. We want to nurture and grow this opportunity and provide access for developers, cloud providers and telecom operators to launch new and disruptive services. Our presence at Shift helps to raise awareness of this opportunity and ensure its growth,” said Henry Calvert, Chief Network Officer, GSMA.
As one of the companies participating in Shift Zadar and providing the underlying communication technology for the Elmo remote driving experience, Boris Drilo, Chief Technical and Information Officer (CTIO) at Croatia Telekom, said: “ Network APIs take the engagement of our customers and their favorite brands to the next level. Croatian Telecom offers this new business capability to Croatian enterprises, putting them on an equal footing with their European counterparts. Exposing telecom network capabilities to developers has never been simpler and easier, unlocking great possibilities. The GSMA Open Gateway initiative makes this approach scalable, creating the foundation for the rapid introduction of new use cases across telecom operator footprints. Croatian Telekom opens the door to this new opportunity for all our partners to deliver their services in Croatia .”
As a major promoter and participant of the Open Gateway initiative, and one of the main guests at Shift Zadar 2024, Cedric Gonin, Director of Business Strategy and API Channel Management at Orange, said: “Making network APIs accessible to developers drives innovation across multiple industries. At Orange, we are committed to sharing our APIs with developers and partners to experiment and implement new solutions. Our participation in the Infobip Shift event underlines our commitment to providing the developer community with innovative tools that enable the creation of tomorrow’s digital services through the CAMARA API as part of the Open Gateway initiative.”
