Shenyang Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIACAS) and Huawei unveiled their “5G+Industrial Network” Joint Innovation Center.
Both parties will leverage their strengths and cooperate with outstanding industry partners, to further application scenarios, technological research, standards development, prototype verification, and application popularization for the “5G+Industrial Network”.
With its wide adoption ramping up, 5G is now driving the digitization of diverse industries, among which the manufacturing industry is a leading one.
Smart manufacturing requires higher flexibility, resource efficiency, and quality, all which can be achieved through the in-depth integration of 5G and industrial automation. “5G+Industrial Network” has become the core engine for Industry 4.0 and is improving network connectivity and stability, building a new architecture for industrial interconnections, and is backing up next-generation fully-connected smart factories.

The collaboration agreement was signed by Zeng Peng (Director of Industrial Control Network and System Department of SIACAS) and Zhou Yan (Director of Cloud Core Network Research Department, Huawei).
SIACAS and Huawei will fully play to their strengths, and will jointly advance the development of the “5G+Industrial Network”. Leveraging the technology’s deterministic, reliable, and secure capabilities, both parties will build an industrial automation system that provides information awareness, data analytics, intelligent decision-making, and execution and control in industrial fields, advancing ICT-OT convergence across a wide range of industries. They will research application scenarios and technologies in terms of onsite networking and interworking, reliable transmission scheduling, digital security protection, and distributed connection control, and jointly build a verification system for onsite device communication, production and assembly, quality inspection, intelligent prediction and maintenance. Through these efforts, both parties will achieve an outstanding practice of “5G+Industrial Network”, advance the development of technical specifications and systems, build integrated solutions, and realize a phenomenal development of “5G+Industrial Network” in the smart manufacturing sector.
