Leading video software provider Synamedia has announced that Cellnex group, the telecommunications and broadcasting infrastructure operator, will be deploying Synamedia virtual Digital Content Manager (vDCM) to support the Spanish public broadcaster RTVE.
Cellnex chose Synamedia because of vDCM’s proven track record as well as its ability to future-proof RTVE’s infrastructure. For the first time, Cellnex will move to a software-only environment with vDCM running on-prem as it goes live across all regions of Spain through Q2 2023.
Another important factor was vDCM’s flexibility to support regional content. RTVE will be able to switch seamlessly between broadcasting national and regional content with vDCM’s splicing and digital programme insertion features.
RTVE will be able to optimise bandwidth while enhancing image quality using vDCM’s advanced compression and processing, including its highly-efficient codecs. The AI-based compression will allow Cellnex to offer RTVE the best quality for its digital terrestrial network with 24 x 7 reliability.
Xavi Redon, Product Manager at Cellnex said, “When we renewed our five-year contract to support RTVE’s TV signal transmission, distribution and broadcasting service earlier in 2023, we turned to Synamedia knowing that its solutions and services will meet ours and RTVE’s evolving needs over the long-term.”
Meir Lehrer, Senior Director of Storage and Processing Product Management at Synamedia, commented, “Cellnex’s high service level agreement with RTVE means it can’t take any risks when it comes to technology reliability. As the de facto industry standard for content delivery, vDCM has proven in countless deployments that it can meet customers’ requirements for availability whilst offering a feature set second to none.”
