Airtel’s Android-4G Smartphone to Cost Less than INR 2000, Set for October Launch

With an aim to take on the competition coming from Reliance Jio – head on – India’s largest telecom operator, Bharti Airtel is all set to introduce its low cost smartphone by mid of October 2017.

According to sources close to the development, the smartphone is set to run on Android Nougat and likely to be priced at less than INR 2000 tag.

As Jio Phone is running on KaiOS – one of the major difference between Jio Phone and Airtel smartphone will come in the form of delivering a normal smartphone experience. While Jio Phone is not able to install popular apps such as WhatsApp – Airtel smartphone will function – just like any other device and be able to install apps like WhatsApp easily.

Airtel smartphone is also likely to offer 4-inch display, and come with 1GB of RAM storage. The device will offer offer cameras on the front and the back, and will be backed by a battery of around 1,600mAh power. All this makes it ideally suited for mass market adoption of smartphone in India.
