Taking on the euphoria built around the upcoming Jiophone by Reliance Jio – Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecom operator – is all set to bring a spec-heavy 4G smartphone for INR 2500 in India.
The company is actively engaged in talks with a number of handset players to launch this device soon in the Indian market.
According to market sources, this smartphone is likely to be launched close to Diwali. “This is going to be a full featured 4G smartphone that will enable users to perform all app-driven tasks. This is going to be a spec-heavy device which will be launched close to the Diwali time in India,” informed a source on conditions of anonymity.
Ever since Reliance Jio launched its operations in India, about an year back and started offering data and voice – Bharti Airtel has been facing the competitive forces with its own innovative offers on data and voice.
When launched, this device offering is set to provide stiff competition to the announced INR 1500 Jiophone by Reliance Jio. As per the market sources, Jio Phone is likely to be launched by 21st of September 2017 – to mark the start of Navratri.
As per the specifications provided by this source – the smartphone is likely to have 4 inch display, 1600 mAh battery, 1 GB RAM and will be powered by quad core processor. And of course – this device will have 4G – LTE driven VoLTE calling capabilities as well.
The smartphone is also likely to be bundled with customer-friendly and attractive voice and data plans in order to catch most of the eyeballs in the Indian market. And most importantly, as this will be a full-fledged smartphone – this will bring a compelling proposition for a customer who is still using a feature phone and is looking forward to upgrade towards a smartphone.
