Bharti Airtel has filed a police complaint with Gurgaon police stating that it received more than 3,000 mails with the subject line "Oppose Airtel from Misleading Consumers", however, the company has not named the rival who it believed is gaining advantage on this malicious campaign.
In its complaint to the Gurgaon police, Airtel has said that it received more than 3,000 mails with the subject line "Oppose Airtel from Misleading Consumers."
When contacted the company has said, “On going through the contents of the email, it is quite evident that the sender of the email is just looking forward to malign Bharti Airtel's reputation and brand name by initiating a motivated complaint for the services provided by Bharti Airtel Limited, Idea and Vodafone to TRAI,” the telco explained.
Airtel has also confirmed that it found the mails were sent through a domain name called ‘techaajkal.com’, which is registered as recently as January 9, 2017.
“On further internal investigations we found that the domain "mailerl.techaajkal.com" has a digital certificate registered in the name of `shailendra@vaishnaviitin'. It was further discovered that the same email address is used for obtaining digital certificates for other domains including the domain mail.jiohomedelivery.com and mail.myawacs.com,” it said.
“On the basis of the information collected so far we have strong reasons to believe that the email is sent by Mr Shailendra S Jha who is closely associated with mailjiohomedelivery.com,” it has added.
In its complaint to the Gurgaon police, Airtel has demanded an investigation to establish the role and identity of all those involved in this malicious campaign.
