Chinese smartphone major, Xiaomi is set to ship its flagship ‘Redmi Note’ into the Indian market, soon. The company’s top executive Hugo Barra has revealed this in a recent Facebook update.
Additionally, a 4G-LTE compatible variant of Redmi Note is all set for launch in Singapore, on November, 18th, 2014and hence, the company might launch Redmi Note in India by first week of December. Interestingly, the Xiaomi’s Redmi Note, is already confirmed to come with an affordable Rs 9,999 price tag.
Xiaomi has also known to have adopted the ‘Flash Sales’ business model in an innovative manner. Xiaomi conducts online flash sales, to sell its entry-level Redmi 1S smartphones in India that are priced at Rs 5,999. Most of these flash sales, are reported a sell-out (in the case of Redmi 1S smartphones) in less than 5 seconds as soon as sales begin.
Flash Sales Innovations
Flash Sales or Deal-of-the-day is an innovative e-commerce business model in which websites such as Flipkart.com, Amazon.in or Snapdeal.com offers a single product for sale for a period of 24 to 36 hours. Potential customers register as members of the deal-a-day websites and receive online offers and invitations by email or social networks.
Global smartphone vendors such as Xiaomi and Motorola are primarily concentrating their sales efforts in the online space and have conducted such e-commerce driven ‘Flash Sales’ on many occasions before.
Quite focused around the end consumer behavior, deal-of-the-day sites have continued to grow in popularity, although new concerns have arisen over the longevity of the concept and the financial viability of one-day deals for small businesses.
Even though, Xiaomi reported a number of ‘sell outs’ as part of its earlier Flash Sales efforts, it seems to have stopped the habit of reporting sell-out sales starting from the last three that were held in India, via major e-commerce retailer Flipkart.
