In its bid to deliver next generation services to its customers in Mumbai, Vodafone India is all set to launch its 4G services in Mumbai by December 2015.
It is important to note that Reliance JIO or RJIO - a green field 4G operator is also likely to launch its Pan India 4G services by December 2015. As 4G service is going to hinge its success on data driven innovation - the launch of 4G services would translate in an exponential growth in data consumption from the end customer standpoint.
While Vodafone has been investing in the development of the 4G services with enthusiasm, testing of 4G services has been successfully initiated. Vodafone India has partnered with leading global technology infrastructure service providers for the network roll-out.
With some of the latest technological developments on the anvil, Vodafone is building a robust and resilient network architecture coupled with strong backup to support the expected volumes and speed requirements of its customers.
Mumbai, with around 30%* of data revenues is one of the top data markets for Vodafone in India. To further strengthen this position, Vodafone is investing heavily in high capacity Fibre/backhaul to significantly increase internet connectivity, which will benefit all its data subscribers.
Announcing this development, Ishmeet Singh, Business Head–Mumbai, Vodafone India, said, “We are the leading service provider in Mumbai and our customers have a lot to look forward to. We are excited to launch our new 4G services in the superior 1800 MHz band for our customers in Mumbai. We will continue to pursue our customer centric strategy in an endeavor to meet their evolving needs for better and smarter connectivity for both voice and data.”
Vodafone India remains committed towards making necessary investments in network expansion and modernization for enhancing overall customer experience. In the first six months of the current financial year, Vodafone has already rolled out over 1000 sites and invested more than INR 500 crores in Mumbai.
It has also made significant investments in upgrading its own network plus modernizing the radio network and switching systems to provide a superior mobile internet experience for customers. In addition, charging platforms have also been upgraded to facilitate a wider bouquet of products and services.
