Vivo’s Y series of smartphones has always carried its unique signature on offering great performance with premium quality and build – while staying cost effective in the market. Keeping in mind the true spirit of its Y Series – Vivo has launched its latest offering, the Vivo Y95, in India.

This is the first handset in India to embrace Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 439 SoC – it is also coming with a waterdrop notch, dual camera setup and a premium-looking gradient hue that is just too good to resist.

Vivo Y95 is quite high on delivering unique style elements and comes with a polycarbonate build with an attractive colour-shifting gradient. Its Blue and Purple hues, also extends to the sides of the device. The buttons and port placement is pretty much standard and comes with physical buttons on the right, a SIM tray on the left and a 3.5mm interface, a micro-USB port and a speaker grill on the bottom.

The rear panel of this device is home to the dual-camera module, an LED flash and a fingerprint scanner. This handset comes with an awesome 19:9 FullView Halo display with waterdrop notch.

As far as the display is concerned – the Vivo Y95 comes packed with a 6.22-inch IPS display that carries a resolution 1,520 x 720 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 88.6 percent.

Vivo has equipped this device with features like auto brightness, eye protection, colour temperature adjustment and third-party app display ratio adjustment as well.

The viewing angles with this device are quite decent without any colour shift and the display gets bright enough to be able to work wonderfully well under direct sunlight conditions. And yes, the waterdrop notch ensures that you get an immersive display viewing experience.

It is important to note that Vivo Y95 is the first smartphone in India to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, which is a 1.9GHz 64-bit octa-core SoC backed by the Adreno 505 graphics. The processor comes coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

This powerful SoC ensures that there is no lag in performance of this device. While reviewing the device, we did not experience any lag in its performance while doing multitasking of capabilities and quite an extensive usage of the device.

Vivo Y95 comes packed with Funtouch OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo edition. The software comes with features such as File Safebox, Screen Smart Split, One-handed mode, App Clone, Face Unlock, motorbike mode, Capture Protection, Smart Motion, etc.

Camera Performance

The camera app delivers features such as live filters, professional mode, doc scanning, face beauty, AR stickers and of course the much needed – bokeh effect. With regards to selfies and video calling, the handset offers an impressive 20-megapixel shooter with the same set of features, along with an AI Selfe mode that can detect your age, gender, skin tone, skin texture, and lighting environment for enhanced results.

The Final Verdict

At a time when customers look for better and bigger deals – Vivo Y95 has it all what a customer looks for. It has a stylish body, that comes with – a wonderful display, a powerful battery, superb camera and Snapdragon 439 SoC to deliver great experiences. And one of the big differences for Vivo comes in the form of its firmly entrenched channel ecosystem, making this device easily available in India – while its close competitors such as Xiaomi still find it difficult to make their devices available across India’s vibrant channel community.
