The newly launched Vivo V5 smartphone features a 20-megapixel front-facing camera and this makes this device a true selfie master.

The Vivo V5 is priced in India at INR 17,980

Vivo has recently launched Vivo V5, which is positioned as a great device for selfie lovers. Vivo V5 is the latest addition by the company to its existing V-series, right after the Vivo V3 and Vivo V3Max.

Design and Build

The design of this device is quite refreshing and different from other members of the V-series. Build quality is quite good, with Corning Gorilla Glass protecting the display. This smartphone has a faux-metal chassis blending together very well. This device weighs is just 154 grams, which is quite good and actually helps the fact that this is a selfie smartphone.

The 5.5-inch IPS display of this phone is bright and enables good colour saturation, which almost makes it look like an AMOLED panel. Even though the resolution of the screen is only HD but this has not affected its performance at all.

The Vivo V5 comes with fingerprint sensor is integrated into the Home button. While reviewing this product we experienced its great accuracy and speed. This sensor is incredibly fast and most certainly accurate. It was incredibly quick at authenticating us. Users can also use it to lock apps, in addition to unlocking the phone.

Vivo V5 is quite unique in the way it offers an ergonomic design and despite its slim profile, it offers decent grip. The back of this phone has a matte finish that provides this device an elegant look. It comes with a dual-SIM tray on the left, which can accommodate a microSD card (up to 128GB) in the second slot.

Vivo V5 specifications and features

Vivo V5 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC. Along with it, you get 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. While reviewing the device, we did not notice any performance lag – even while playing heavy games on this device and doing multi tasking.

So, this is surely a big performance powerhouse device. Vivo V5 comes with V5 with FunTouchOS 2.6, which is now based on Android Marshmallow.

Vivo V5 performance

This is a power packed smartphone that delivers great performance. Loading times for apps on the Vivo V5 are relatively short and we did not feel any difficulty when it comes to handling multiple tasks in this smartphone. And at a time when there are a number of devices in the market that easily get heated up – this phone never got heated up while we used it. The Vivo V5 supports VoLTE as well.

Great Camera – Moonlight in Your Hands

The biggest feature of Vivo V5 is its front-facing 20-megapixel camera, which boasts of a Sony IMX376 sensor with f/2.0 aperture, and a fixed-focus lens. Vivo V5 supports full-HD video recording and Face Beauty shooting mode as well.

The V5 also comes with ‘moonlight flash’, which shines a continuous beam of diffused light to illuminate your face. This is a great feature when it comes to taking selfies in low light conditions. While reviewing the device, we did notice that in daylight, the sensor manages highly detailed selfies with great colour reproduction.

Final Verdict

The Vivo V5 is a great smartphone in this price range and can surely give its closest competition a tough time in the market. The single most important feature of this phone is its 20-megapixel front camera, which has performed really well under stressing conditions. Priced at INR 17,980, the Vivo V5 is refreshingly good looking and is ideal to make you all the more unique and special.
