Vivo has emerged as a brand that is carrying a lot of loyalty among its customer base and the brand is living upto its expectations by offering unique innovations to its customers.

Vivo has recently launched the Vivo S1 in India. This device is a part of the new S series which stands for Style. The Vivo S1 is stylish for sure, and carries a unique design language that can help anyone to stand out in the crowd quite easily.

Vivo S1 design

Vivo is known for providing super sleek and well designed smartphones and Vivo S1 is no different. This device is full of style, it sports a 6.38-inch display with a tiny dewdrop-style notch which is sitting at the top. Vivo has opted for an AMOLED panel, and the Vivo S1 comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo S1 is available in two colors, Diamond Black and Skyline Blue and we had the Skyline Blue unit for this review. Vivo has positioned the power button to the right along with the volume buttons, and we found that these are quite easy to reach and manage while using the device.

Vivo S1 Specifications

The Vivo S1 is the first smartphone in India which is powered by the new MediaTek Helio P65 SoC. The Helio P65 comes with a pair of ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2GHz, and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. It has a Mali-G52 integrated GPU for graphics usage.

Vivo has launched three variants of this device in India: the entry-level one with 4GB of RAM and128GB of storage; another with 6GB of RAM but 64GB of storage; and the top-end one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. These variants are priced at INR 17,990, INR 18,990 and INR 19,990 respectively.

Vivo S1 performance, battery life, and cameras

This device is powered by MediaTek Helio P65 SoC and it is doing a great job there, as you won’t notice any lag in the performance of this smartphone. The device is quite fast to launch apps and do multi-tasking capabilities with ease.

While reviewing the device, we never had to wait long for an app to open. The device is also able to manage idle battery drain in an excellent manner.

When it comes to battery, Vivo S1 is an awesome device and during the time we reviewed this device, we could easily go on for about a day and a half on a single charge. During this time, we did run multiple apps, took pictures, videos and used google maps as well as used the device to run an active WhatsApp account.

With this device, Vivo is delivering a triple camera setup. This consists of a 16-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.78 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. And when it comes to taking selfies – this phone comes packed with a 32-megapixel selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.

Photos taken with the Vivo S1 were of quite good quality and carried forward natural colors and vibrancy. The phone performed well in daylight as well as dark conditions. Close-ups were good, and the Vivo S1 could lock focus quickly and get the exposure right. The output had good edge detection as well. This device also offers a separate aperture mode which can be used to take bokeh shots.

The device also offers you to take portraits in selfie mode as well, and during our review we managed to get good edge detection. All in all, this device delivers a smooth camera performance and considering the price point, there is huge value proposition being offered to the customers with this device.

Final Verdict

The Vivo S1 is a great device that is priced under INR 20,000. It has an wonderful design language that is quite simplistic in nature. It also delivers an in-display fingerprint scanner that is quite quick in action. Vivo S1 comes with the all new MediaTek Helio P65 SoC – which is quite fast in terms of delivering the right performance. This is a good option for customers looking for a smartphone that carries a cool design as well as great performance capabilities.
