Vietnam’s VNPT partners with Microsoft to develop Smart City Initiative


Microsoft is partnering with VNPT, Vietnam’s telecom operator in order to enable development in the smart cities space and create different smart cities within Vietnam.

Pham Duc Long, CEO of VNPT and Vu Minh Tri, CEO of Microsoft Vietnam as well as the representatives of the 2 sides signed the Strategic MOU to foster the consultation process, provision and implementation of several major ICT fields.

As part of this partnership, both the organisations will cooperate to deploy Smart City based on Microsoft CityNext Platform in cities and provinces of Vietnam, including following sectors: Smart Health, Smart Transportation, Smart Travel, Smart E-Government

At the ceremony, Pham Duc Long, President and CEO of VNPT said: “VNPT is now focusing its resources on developing new products and services, such as: Security applications, Information Security and other applications on the basis of cloud computing and developing smart city platform and applications …

In addition, Microsoft and VNPT will cooperate in IT fields which are now development tendency in the world, such as: Cloud Computing and Information Security. Microsoft and VNPT will soon co-operate to make annual working plan and establish a working team for the implementation of the agreed plan.

Taking part in the event, there were: Mr. Pham Duc Long, President & CEO of VNPT , Mr. Luong Manh Hoang, Vice President of VNPT, Mr. Vu Minh Tri, CEO of Microsoft Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Ba Quynh, Public Sector Director of Microsoft Vietnam and other representatives of the 2 parties.

“Bilateral cooperation between VNPT and Microsoft will be the opportunity for 2 sides to bring best benefits to the customers. Definitely, owning rich global experience, Microsoft will work tightly with VNPT to support Vietnamese Government, organizations and enterprises, help to make rapid and effective development in specialized technologies, consolidate the infrastructure, give out both most modern and secured solutions and services at highest level”. Mr. Vu Minh Tri, CEO of Microsoft Vietnam said.
