UNISOC, a core subsidiary of Unigroup, together with Ericsson, have successfully achieved a non-standalone (NSA) 5G New Radio (NR) data call on 2.6 GHz.

The bi-directional downlink and uplink data call was made at the Ericsson Lab in Beijing on May 28. This latest Interoperability Development Testing (IoDT) data call is compliant with the 3GPP Rel-15 specification and the lab demonstration used Ericsson’s commercially available 5G NR radio System portfolio and a mobile test device powered by UNISOC Ivy 510 5G modem.

As one of the core suppliers of 5G chipsets, UNISOC has been and will continue to drive the maturity and commercialization of 5G devices.

Since the successful launch of 5G technology platform “MAKALU” and its first 5G Modem Ivy 510, UNISOC, along with its key ecosystem partners, have conducted multiple tests and verifications, including interoperability tests of 5G NR network on various bands, significantly accelerating the commercialization of 5G.

UNISOC and Ericsson have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 5G in 2016. The two parties have carried out a lot of cooperations on the R&D of 5G key technologies and jointly promoted 5G key technology verifications, 5G NR tests, etc.

“The successful interoperability test will provide support for mobile operators’ 5G network deployment. ” Bo Wang, SVP and General Manager of UNISOC’s IoT Device Business Unit, commented, “ UNISOC will continue to deepen the cooperation with Ericsson and jointly promote 5G application in a wider range of fields.”

UNISOC is a fabless semiconductor company committed to R&D of core chipsets in mobile communications and IoT. Its products cover mobile chipset platforms supporting 2G/3G/4G/5G communication standards and various chipset solutions in the field of IoT, RFFE, wireless connection, security, TV etc. With estimated 4,500 staff, 14 R&D centers and 4 customer support centers around the world, UNISOC is dedicated to becoming one of the top 3 mobile chipsets suppliers in terms of global market share, the largest chipset provider for IoT and connectivity devices and the leading 5G company in China.
