Thailand’s AIS Selects Huawei AAU Solution to Build its Mobile Broadband Network

Huawei together with AIS, a·mobile operator in Thailand, have announced the deployment of the Huawei innovative Active Antenna Unit (AAU)-based Easy Macro solution in Thailand. The solution will be deployed across the AIS network aiming to build the best Mobile Broadband (MBB) network in Thailand and enhance their user experiences.

Over the last few years, MBB has developed rapidly in Thailand, predominantly driven by the high penetration of smartphones and tablets. Aiming to achieve rapid expansion of the existing network, Easy Macro improves network capacity and provides an improved user experience to subscribers.

Easy Macro belongs to the Huawei AAU family. The solution simultaneously supports both Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technologies on multi bands. It is small in size but has macro site output power capabilities and the design is aesthetically pleasing. These attractive features all matched the requirements of AIS.

An executive from AIS said, “Deploying Huawei Easy MacroTM solution across our network in the major cities will support our capacity needs as we bring Mobile Broadband to the people of Thailand. We are delighted to work with Huawei, one of our main suppliers. Their commitment to developing leading technologies and focusing on innovation supports us to meet our goals.”

To date, Huawei AAU solutions have been deployed across more than 37 worldwide commercial networks including, China, Peru, Egypt and countries in Europe.
