Telia Company has appointed Stefan Backman as EVP, Group General Counsel, Head of Corporate Affairs, to succeed Jonas Bengtsson who has decided to leave the company at the end of 2021.
“Following the resolution of some of Telia Company’s most significant challenges in recent years and the resetting of the company’s Nordic and Baltic strategy, in all of which Jonas has played a fundamental role, Jonas has tendered his resignation to take up an opportunity outside of the telecom sector. I am tremendously grateful for his outstanding contribution to the company and the Group Executive Management team, as well as the support he has provided to me since my arrival at Telia,” says Allison Kirkby, President & CEO, Telia Company.
Stefan Backman, currently Executive Vice President, Group General Counsel & Wholesale Business at Tele2 AB will join Telia Company’s Group Executive Management team as EVP, Group General Counsel, Head of Corporate Affairs.

Jonas Bengtsson will remain with Telia Company until the end of 2021 and Stefan Backman will take up his new position no later than summer 2022.
