TelCables Nigeria Joins Rack Centre to Drive Subsea Connectivity

TelCables Nigeria has joined Rack Centre to bring International Subsea Connectivity to Lagos Campus. TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables and one of Africa's most connected network operators, is now part of the Rack Centre ecosystem.

Through a new colocation agreement, TelCables Nigeria has extended its high-capacity network and cloud infrastructure directly into our carrier- and cloud-neutral data centre campus in Lagos. The integration brings four international subsea cable systems ' SACS, MONET, SEBRAS, and EllaLink ' into Rack Centre, significantly expanding regional and global connectivity options.

Why This Matters

This partnership enhances the resilience of connectivity across West Africa. With low-latency, high-availability routes reaching Europe, the Americas, and Latin America, businesses operating in latency-sensitive sectors ' such as finance, real-time communications, and digital content ' can now enjoy faster, more stable connections. It also reduces dependence on traditional West African cable paths that are prone to disruptions.

TelCables Nigeria's local cloud service platform, Clouds2Africa, is now accessible within Rack Centre, giving businesses the ability to consume Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and CDN solutions locally, priced in Naira ' with no FX exposure or cross-border data transfer charges.

Infrastructure Highlights

Dual and diverse dark fibre rings have been deployed into Rack Centre for maximum redundancy and uptime.
Direct on-ramps to major cloud providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
Support for hybrid and multi-cloud strategies through Dedicated Internet Access, IP Transit, and IX peering.
The only direct route from Africa to Latin America via SACS, with shortest-hop connectivity to the USA and Europe.

Aligned with Rack Centre's Growth Strategy

The integration supports Rack Centre's ongoing expansion, anchored by our new LGS2 facility ' a 13.5MW data centre designed for high performance and sustainability. The facility features a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35, N+2 cooling systems, AI-ready high-density racks, and a fully integrated Building Management System.

Commenting on the partnership, Lars Johannisson, CEO of Rack Centre, said, 'Adding a global operator like Angola Cables through TelCables Nigeria strengthens our interconnection capabilities and deepens our reach. It allows us to deliver SLA-grade global routes while keeping traffic local and compliant with data sovereignty requirements.'

Strengthening the African Digital Ecosystem

With over 70 carriers and network operators now hosted on our Lagos campus, this partnership reinforces Rack Centre's role as a regional interconnection hub, enabling smarter cloud adoption and better digital experiences across the continent.
