Ericsson, facilitated through Xtreme Enterprises, has announced an agreement with Sound Broadband, a subsidiary of LICT Corporation, to transform broadband access in rural America. This initiative targets Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model (Enhanced ACAM) funded areas and future Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) opportunities, bringing ultra high-speed 5G NR Fixed Wireless Access solutions (FWA) to underserved communities across multiple states.
“Ericsson has long envisioned delivering ultra high-speed broadband to all market segments in America,” said Eric Boudriau, Vice President and Head of Customer Unit Regional Customers & HCP, Ericsson North America. “Through this strategic collaboration with our trusted partners, Sound Broadband and Xtreme Enterprises, we can now achieve that goal. Their deep market expertise and agile approach enable us to scale our carrier-grade wireless solutions to providers serving both unserved and underserved broadband markets.”
"This collaboration marks a significant leap forward in our mission to bring next-generation connectivity to communities that need it most," said Dylan Larmore, President of Sound Broadband. "With Ericsson’s technology, we can not only meet but exceed the broadband requirements of E-ACAM and BEAD, ensuring that rural Americans enjoy the same quality of service as those in urban centers. This is more than just an infrastructure project; it’s a commitment to equal access and opportunity for all."
"Ericsson’s 5G NR solutions are a game-changer for the future of rural connectivity," added Wayne Baxter, Acting President of Western New Mexico Telephone. "The future of mobility and seamless user experience enabled by Ericsson’s technology will redefine what’s possible in rural broadband, paving the way for new possibilities in education, business, and daily life."
“We are thrilled to support this ambitious project. The E-ACAM and BEAD programs mandate delivering guaranteed minimum uplink and downlink speeds to all funded locations. said David Tews, CEO of Xtreme Enterprises. Our thorough testing of the Ericsson-Xtreme 5G Fixed Wireless Access solution ensures we can meet these high standards for our customers."
