PVP Esports has announced the inaugural SuperGamerFest (SGF), a virtual festival that aims to delight the growing pool of gamers and esports enthusiasts across Southeast Asia.
Powered by Singtel and Globe, Singtel’s joint venture in the Philippines, SGF is set to take place over the first two weekends in December (5-6 and 11-13 December) and is a part of the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) annual Singapore Media Festival.
The fully digital event will feature interactive events and fringe programmes that gamers across the region can look forward to, including exclusive watch parties, interviews with popular esports personalities, educational workshops, masterclasses and the first-ever SuperGamerFest Awards – a platform to honour gaming content creators and esports talents from Southeast Asia. The regional finals of the PVP Esports Community Championships (Season 2) will also take place during SGF and see emerging champions from the Open and Campus categories across eight countries battle it out for the title of PVP Regional Champion on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Valorant.
Cindy Tan, Head of Business and Marketing, International Group at Singtel said, “The PVP Esports vision is to bring together the gaming community – be it amateur, pro or content creators – to bond over a common interest in everything esports related. We’re thrilled to be launching SuperGamerFest 2020 – an all-encompassing and fully virtual platform for gamers as part of IMDA’s Singapore Media Festival. We’re also proud to be playing a role in supporting the wider esports and gaming ecosystem by recognising the hard work and achievements of Asia’s gaming creators and esports professionals through Southeast Asia’s very first gaming awards show.”
“Esports is rapidly growing in the Philippines and we are excited to be part of this very important milestone in the industry. SuperGamerFest 2020 is one of the biggest esports events in Asia, and it highlights not only the athletes’ competitive spirit, but also brings players from all over the world to foster camaraderie with fellow gamers,” said DC Dominguez, Head of Globe Games and Esports.
“We are proud to contribute to the continuous evolution of the gaming industry and be part of this event that recognises those people and groups who have been critical in growing the esports scene in the region.”
In line with PVP Esports’ core value of healthy gaming, SGF will also provide educational content on proper nutrition, exercise and mental wellness for gamers. Masterclasses and workshops will include coaching on specific gaming skills, as well as the mental and physical training involved in becoming an esports professional.
