Overture today announced it will offer a fully virtualized demonstration of both vIMS and vCPE capabilities at Mobile World Congress, March 2-5 in Barcelona. This real-world NFV demonstration will showcase the virtual network orchestration capabilities of Overture’s Ensemble Open Services Architecture™ and feature several of Overture’s Harmony partner solutions including those from Brocade, Metaswitch Networks, Spirent and Intel. The demonstration will be held in Fira Gran Hall 2, Meeting Room 2C10MR and is available to any attendee, including service providers, members of the media and industry analysts.
“Software-driven virtual networking environments are key to supporting escalating growth in on-demand mobile and enterprise services, and IoT services the industry has not yet defined. I invite you to join me as we show how the flexibility, agility and scalability of virtualized networks can transform the service provider business model for greater profitability,” notes Prayson Pate, Overture CTO. “We will feature virtualized offerings from Overture, our Harmony partners and open source options operating on Overture 65vSE and COTS hardware simultaneously.”
Featured functionality will include:
Overture’s Ensemble OSA: The industry’s first open architecture for software-defined services includes Ensemble Service Orchestrator (ESO), the newly announced Ensemble Service Intelligence (ESI), and Ensemble Carrier Ethernet VNF.
Overture’s Ensemble Carrier Ethernet VNF: The industry’s first open carrier-grade Carrier Ethernet VNF that provides the same CE2.0 functionality of a physical Ethernet Access Device without being tied to proprietary, purpose built hardware. Ensemble ECE utilizes the Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) to achieve packet-forwarding speeds in a virtual environmental that rival those of hardened appliances.
Brocade Vyatta 5600 vRouter: The Brocade Vyatta 5600 is the first 10Gbps+ virtual router capable of providing advanced routing in software without sacrificing the reliability and performance of hardware networking solutions — making it a flexible, cost-effective solution for NFV. Featuring Brocade vPlane technology, the Brocade Vyatta 5600 delivers unprecedented performance by leveraging the DPDK to separate the router’s control plane from its forwarding plane and accelerating packet-forwarding performance.
Metaswitch’s Clearwater IMS: Clearwater is an implementation of IMS built using web development methods to provide voice, video and messaging services to millions of users. Architected from the ground up for massively scalable deployments within virtualized public or private elastic compute clouds, Clearwater combines the economics of over-the-top (OTT) style service platforms with the standards compliance and reliability expected of telco-grade communications network solutions.
Metaswitch’s Perimeta vSBC: Metaswitch’s Perimeta vSBC is a proven virtualized network function (VNF), providing the unmatched security, network diagnostics and analytic tools demanded of today’s Web-scale, cloud based communications services.
Spirent TestCenter Virtual: The industry-leading solution that optimizes the performance of new cloud-enabled network services and innovations like SDN and NFV.
Overture 65vSE: Overture 65vSE is the industry’s first open Carrier Ethernet platform for hosting virtual network functions at the service edge. Overture 65vSE utilizes the Intel® Atom™ processor C2000, which when paired with the DPDK significantly improves packet processing speeds.
