OpenSignal Report: Airtel Pips Reliance Jio on 3G, 4G Speeds in India

As per the latest OpenSignal report – Airtel, India’s leading telecom operator for both 3G and 4G download speed in India, has beaten Reliance Jio in overall speed criteria as well.

As a time when India is moving towards embracing 4G at a very fast pace, the report says that Airtel’s overall average download speed of 6 Mbps on mobile data networks pips Jio’s average of 5.1 Mbps.

While the OpenSignal report has applauded Airtel with first position – the green field 4G operator, Reliance Jio is not even in the second position in 4G download speed in India.

OpenSignal report has given Idea Cellular the second rank and Vodafone has come in the fourth position below Reliance Jio’s third rank.

Reliance Jio has got fourth rank in overall mobile Internet speed in India, as per the OpenSignal report. And when it comes to 3G speed test, Airtel, BSNL, Idea Cellular and Vodafone are in the top four positions, when it comes to delivering 3G speeds in India.

While Reliance Jio lost out to Airtel on 4G speed – it has been given recognition on 4G availability front. In its report, OpenSignal has said that Reliance Jio is the dominant player in terms of 4G availability in India. Airtel has received fourth position in 4G availability behind Reliance Jio, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular.
