Andre Fuetsch retires from AT&T and his O-RAN chairmanship
Andre Fuetsch, chairman of the board of directors of O-RAN and director of network technology at AT&T, announced his retirement from AT&T effective August 30, 2022, when he will also step down from his position as chairman of the board of the O-RAN ALLIANCE on the same date. AT&T will remain on the O-RAN board as a founding member.
"Under Andre's leadership, O-RAN has evolved into a highly respected body by shifting the paradigm of radio access networks for openness, intelligence and innovation," said Alex Jinsung Choi, Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chairman of the Board of O-RAN. O-RAN ALLIANCE and Senior Vice President of Strategy and Technology Innovation at Deutsche Telekom. “Andre, thank you so much for your presidency for the past four years and much success in your next career and personal life.”
O-RAN ALLIANCE Work Groups and Focus Groups resume face-to-face participation
O-RAN ALLIANCE plans to resume regular face-to-face meetings of its Work Groups and Focus Groups, with the next one to be held in October 2022 in Madrid. Companies and institutions associated with the O-RAN will meet face-to-face to intensify the progress of the O-RAN specification efforts. The meeting is being prepared following all current health and travel regulations and will allow remote participation of delegates who are unable to travel.
The O-RAN ALLIANCE is a worldwide community of more than 320 mobile network operators, vendors and researchers and academic institutions operating in the radio access network (RAN) industry.
As RANs are an essential part of any mobile network, O-RAN ALLIANCE's mission is to reshape the industry towards smarter, more open, virtualized and fully interoperable mobile networks. The new O-RAN specification standards enable a more competitive and vibrant RAN vendor ecosystem, with faster innovation to improve the user experience. O-RAN-based mobile networks improve the efficiency of RAN implementations and the operations of mobile operators at the same time.
