Quite recently smartphone camera has become the final ground on which smartphone wars are being fought and whether it is Vivo or Oppo, Xiaomi or Gionee – most of the brands are focusing huge effort towards delivering great camera performance for their customers.

nubia, has joined the camera-party with the Z17 Mini that comes with dual-lens combination (13MP+13MP) camera on the rear with 16 modes — and a 16MP front side. This is giving this phone a definite edge over its closest competition today.

This device is aptly priced for INR 19,999 and competes with Oppo F3 and Vivo V5s that play well on their camera technologies as well.

Perfect Design

Nubia Z17 Mini is a well-designed smartphone and will surely create a positive impact on its users – giving them a special feeling while holding this. It comes with full-metal body and aesthetically-placed components. The volume rocker and power button of this smartphone are placed on the right with a hybrid-SIM on the left. And below are the speaker grill and Type-C charging port. All this makes this device quite aesthetically designed smartphone.

This smartphone is housed in an aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, the Z17 Mini is a corrosion-resistant and anti-oxidative device. And its beautifully designed rounded corners around the sides and back, makes it easy to hold with one hand in a pretty smooth manner.

While reviewing this smartphone, we noticed that this device carries a chic and sleek “red ring” around the camera. This is a great feature to make a great style statement and stand out in the crowd. It has a slightly protruded camera on the rear with a flash and centrally-aligned fingerprint sensor.

Camera Performance

We extensively reviewed this while visiting Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – the device comes with Sony cameras on the rear – a customised Sony full-light MONO sensor and true-colour RGB sensor along with nubia’s proprietary “Neo-Vision 6” software. All this is helping this device a great camera experience with no lag in performance.

Additionally, this device comes with 16 photo and video modes other than pro and normal modes and it can open up new doors to imagination while shooting pictures and let users do great stuff with still and moving photography.

While reviewing this in and around Ho Chi Minh City – we quickly realized that this device delivers great results even in low-light photography as well and as a result, we receive well-lit images with great clarity.

Additionally, this device has a number of functions packed over its edge. Users can hold the edge and swipe inward to see the apps running in the background. Or one can scroll through different apps.

The Heart of Z17 Mini 

The heart of Z17 Mini is quite accommodating and perfectly designed to manage pressure of multiple functionalities and features of the device. The device comes equipped with 64 bit, octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, is supported by 4GB RAM and 64 GB ROM and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

While doing multi-tasking, playing games, taking pictures and browsing the net – we never experienced any kind of lag in its performance. On the heating front also, we did not find this device to heat up too much.

Display and Battery

The nubia Z17 Mini has a 5.2-inch Full-HD display with 2.5D curved glass and high-gloss edges. This device comes with 2,950mAh battery that is enough to deliver two days of power packed performance. While working in Vietnam, in our usage test, that included internet on, surfing and multimedia consumption, the device worked wonderfully well for more than 24 hours.

Final Verdict

The nubia Z17 Mini is a perfectly designed smartphone that is ideally poised to deliver great user experiences with powerful performance. As this is a camera centric smartphone, this device will give tough competition to camera-oriented smartphones in the same price range
