myMail becoming popular alternative email app for Android and iOS in India

myMail, the app from·US based My.com that manages multiple email accounts, is now India's most downloaded alternative email app, behind only Gmail and Yahoo Mail.

According to the data provided by app analytics company Distimo, myMail has overtaken popular apps like Mailbox, Cloudmagic, and K-9 Mail, with more than double the new user downloads of its closest competitors on both Android and iOS.

myMail has dominated the alternative email app market for several months since its launch in November 2013, and the trend has become more pronounced since Distimo first reported that it leading the downloads for iOS last March. The latest numbers from June validate the company's laser-focus on design, usability, and mobile-centric email.

The app has been received favorably in the countries known to have well-developed mobile markets, holding the top position in the USA, Canada, Germany, France, the UK, Brazil, Japan, India, Spain, Mexico, Australia and others. myMail has more than twice as many downloads as the next highest email app in most countries, including Brazil, India, France, Spain and Mexico, as well as overall on both iOS and Android.

'The future of e-mail is mobile, and we have worked hard to build an app and client that are ready for this future. To lead within the top two mobile platforms worldwide so quickly and in such a decisive way proves that we're moving in the right direction. We firmly believe that smartphones and tablets are the preferred platform for e-mail, and we're aiming to deliver the best possible experience for our users and anyone who wants a sophisticated yet simple way to manage their inbox.', said Dmitry Grishin, CEO and co-founder of Mail.Ru Group, the parent company of myMail.

Available on iOS and Android, myMail offers a host of features designed to appeal to both personal and enterprise mobile email users. The app can manage messages in Gmail, Hotmail, Live, Outlook, MSN, iCloud, AOL, Yahoo mail and my.com accounts, and supports all IMAP and POP3-enabled mailboxes.
