To provide powerful cellular coverage to its 20,000 fans, the new T-Mobile Arena, located just west of the Las Vegas Strip has deployed the Teko DAS (distributed antenna system) platform from JMA Wireless, a global leader of wireless communications solutions.
“JMA Wireless has become the vendor of choice for the sports and entertainment industry, and we are thrilled that our Teko DAS is deployed at T-Mobile Arena,” stated Todd Landry, Corporate Vice President of Product and Market Strategy at JMA Wireless. “With deployments at some of the largest stadiums in the world, our solution has proven repeatedly that it provides the best in cellular connectivity.”
The unique ability of the Teko DAS to address numerous cost of ownership concerns, both capital and operational, have contributed to its rapid growth across many markets in addition to the sports and entertainment industry. This modular solution provides cellular coverage and capacity for both in-building and outdoor environments. Furthermore, its future proof capabilities allow it to easily support current as well as new technologies.
Since opening on April 6, 2016 the T-Mobile Arena has been providing world class cellular coverage to thousands of fans attending a variety of sporting and music events.
At T-Mobile Arena the multi-band, multi-carrier Teko DAS provides coverage for four wireless carriers, supporting the 700L, 700H, 850, 1900, and AWS bands. This connectivity is made possible by 84 five-band, low power Remote Units (RUs) and 41 RUs located in distant locations to support a 2X2 MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) network. Six low power RUs are dedicated just to the 700/800 public safety bands to ensure first responders have much needed connectivity during emergency situations. The system is comprised of nine sectors with a total of 145 antennas.
The Teko DAS not only provides robust mobile communications, but it accomplishes this goal in a very cost effective and efficient manner. Each Remote Unit only requires a single fiber to connect it to the system’s Master Unit.
This unique capability reduces installation costs by a minimum of 50 percent. In addition, the compact design of the Remote Units not only provides a smaller and unobtrusive onsite footprint, but also a much easier and quicker installation. Due to its unique design and innovative capabilities, the Teko DAS was commissioned in just a few days by only two engineers.
