JMA, a global enabler in communication technology, announced the creation of CUSP, a new division dedicated to supporting the growing need for services that sit at the edge and an investment focus around edge-ready products.
The newly formed entity will focus on both an integrated MEC (Multi-Access Edge Compute) platform as well as delivering differentiated experiences to Enterprise and Private Networks.
CUSP will lean on JMA’s current technology set, including its flexible edge foundation, which focuses on solutions delivered through a high level of virtualization and software-first architecture. JMA, who designs and delivers large scale in-building and in-venue networks, is uniquely positioned to address emerging needs at the edge including complex web-facing applications, immersive mobile experiences leveraging virtual and augmented reality, integrated IOT, and edge gaming.
A focus for CUSP will be around the Enterprise Edge, empowering private wireless networks that enable agile, intelligent, and differentiated business solutions. CUSP capabilities will stem from utilization of spectrum slicing, localized performance optimization, access to critical analytics, and added control over IoT systems.
CUSP Leadership
JMA has tapped Greg Dial to head the new unit. Dial brings 20 years’ experience spanning product development, strategic planning, and wireless infrastructure. Dial most recently served as Executive Director, Network Planning at Verizon with previous industry roles at Alcatel-Lucent.
Samir Vaidya will lead CUSP’s architecture and development. Vaidya also brings 20 years’ experience across software engineering, next gen app development (AR/VR), and mobile device technology. Vaidya most recently served as Executive Director, Technology at Verizon with previous industry roles at Motorola.
“JMA is committed to pushing the envelope on network edge technology through our software based, flexibly designed solutions. Greg and Samir bring a unique combination of business and technical insight across product and network development,” said John Mezzalingua, CEO of JMA.
“With the speed of innovation at the edge, it is critical to enable services as quickly as possible across public and private networks. JMA has the critical tools for success in the edge space – software based platforms, virtualized design, and a great 5G roadmap. I am excited by the opportunity ahead,” said Dial.
JMA Wireless designs and builds next generation in-building and outdoor mobile wireless systems, delivering the industry’s most powerful technologies that enable LTE, 5G, and CBRS services on mobile operator networks worldwide.
