IS-Wireless has completed its private 5G network deployment for Industry 4.0 in Germany. This project, initiated to enhance connectivity and automation within the industrial sector, marks a significant milestone in the company's efforts to support digital transformation across Europe.

IS-Wireless was chosen as a provider of 5G by the CampusDynA consortium, comprising of German industry leaders such as Gestalt Robotics, T-Systems, ams-OSRAM, Fraunhofer, and Werner-von-Siemens Center for Industry and Science. The project focuses on exploring the potential of Open RAN private networks in industrial applications, including autonomous mobile robotics and optimization of energy use in production plants.

The private 5G network, designed and implemented by IS-Wireless, has delivered reliable and high-performance connectivity tailored to the specific needs of advanced industrial applications. Over the course of the project, the network has proven its capability to support real-time data exchange, improve operational efficiency, and enable innovative Industry 4.0 solutions.

The company delivered a complete Radio Access Network including O-RU (radio units), DU (distributed units) and CU (centralized units) as well as the near-RT RIC (RAN Intelligent Controller) with xApps ensuring the necessary network performance needed in the demanding use case of connected and autonomous mobile robots esp. in the context of forced handovers.

This is critical for seamless operations in an Industry 4.0 context, where any disruption can lead to significant profit loss and process inefficiencies. Autonomous vehicles rely on constant connectivity, and thanks to IS-Wireless’s solution with enforced handovers, they consistently maintain the strongest 5G signal, minimizing the risk of connection loss. The insights gained from these installations will be applied by consortium members in their real-world environments.

"We are proud to have contributed to the digital evolution of the industrial sector in Germany," said Slawomir Pietrzyk, CEO and Founder of IS-Wireless. "The fact that we were selected among tough competition indicates the good direction we took with our product development. It’s both the functionality and quality that matters a lot, especially in Industry 4.0 applications."

The WvSC is a beacon for innovation in the field of industrial transformation and brings the latest technological developments to life at its location in Siemensstadt Square. Of course, this also includes the latest communication standards such as the Open RAN network from IS-Wireless, explains Peter Höhmann, project lead at Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science. Our modern 5G network forms the infrastructural basis for numerous research projects between industry, science, SMEs and start-ups and therefore for future innovations.

IS-Wireless is a provider of reliable Private 5G solutions addressing use cases of industry 4.0, mission-critical, and campus networks. The offer covers all network functionalities from RAN to Core and includes pre-integrated hardware and software network elements ready to be installed at the customer premises. Networks are built in the Open RAN model.

At the heart of IS-Wireless’s Private 5G is Liquid RAN, a new generation of open, disaggregated radio networks, which focuses on extremely efficient use of communication resources (computing, spectrum). Liquid RAN enables significant savings of network deployment costs and energy consumption. IS-Wireless has been recognized as one of the few European RAN vendors by leading operators such as Deutsche Telekom and Orange.
