People to People Health Foundation (PPHF), in collaboration with the Government of Haryana & Nirogya Lifeline Foundation under CSR support from Ericsson has launched Project Charaka, an innovative telehealth initiative aimed at bridging healthcare access gaps and improving health outcomes in rural communities.
The launch event, held at the India International Centre, New Delhi, showcased futuristic Healthcare delivery ecosystem, IEC materials, and live demonstrations of cutting-edge healthcare services.
Ericsson Improving Health Outcomes in Jhajjar
The event featured telehealth demonstrations, allowing attendees to witness how these telehealth kiosks enable free vital testing, virtual consultations, and advanced diagnostics, showcasing the transformative potential of technology in healthcare delivery. Ground-level healthcare workers, including community health workers, medical officers, and lab technicians, shared compelling stories from the field, highlighting the transformative impact of the project in bridging healthcare access gaps.
Experts from the National Health Authority (NHA) and e-Sanjeevani presented insights on integrating telehealth services with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), illustrating a futuristic vision of healthcare delivery that prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity. Esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. VK Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, and Dr. Shankar Prinja, Professor Health Economics PGI Chandigarh, Dr. Ashoo Grover, senior scientist ICMR, Dr. Ravinder Singh Scientist ICMR provided reflections on policy integration and outlined a comprehensive roadmap for advancing telehealth services in India.
Project Charaka, has already deployed 25 operational telehealth kiosks in Jhajjar, Haryana, offering services such as preventive health screenings, capacity building for health workers, and community mobilization initiatives. This initiative is aligned with India’s National Digital Health Mission, paving the way for a healthier and more inclusive future.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, praised Project “Charaka” as a groundbreaking initiative set to revolutionize healthcare delivery through digital technology. He also underscored the vital importance of partnerships in advancing healthcare. "Public-Private Partnerships and stakeholder synergy are essential for driving progress and building a stronger, more resilient, and healthier India," he said. Dr. Singh expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts of PPHF, Ericsson India Private Limited, the NLLF, and the Haryana district administration, emphasizing that such alliances play a crucial role in generating actionable evidence and scaling transformative initiatives.

The event also marked the release of a Rapid Formative Assessment (RFA) Report and Health Technology Assessment report, detailing key findings from the project’s implementation and offering a strategic roadmap for scaling telehealth services across India.

Project Charaka is a joint initiative by the People to People Health Foundation and Nirogya Lifeline Foundation, being implemented in collaboration with the Jhajjar district administration in Haryana. Supported by Ericsson India Private Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the project aims to transform healthcare delivery across the Jhajjar district of Haryana.
