SVP-Head of Corporate Communications Indosat Ooredoo, Steve Saerang, said “We are proud to be able to provide the best digital experience to our customers during the Christmas and New Year's holidays, despite the high traffic spikes. This is inseparable from the hard work of the entire Indosat Ooredoo team and our partners in the field, who have succeeded in anticipating and ensuring the availability of services for all customers. The expansion of our 4G video-grade network, together with the implementation of a Command Center supported by an AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) based Network Operation Center and automation, as well as the readiness of customer service channels, are other supporting factors that ensure customers stay connected during this holiday period.”

Indosat Ooredoo recorded a 14% increase in data traffic on December 25, 2021, and an increase of 24% on January 1, 2022, compared to normal daily traffic. A significant increase in data traffic was seen in several cities in Java island, such as Bodetabek, Cirebon, Kudus, Tasikmalaya, Tegal, Tuban, Serang, Solo, and Sukabumi. Data traffic was also recorded to have risen quite high in several other cities outside Java island, including in Balikpapan, Manado, and Samarinda. Meanwhile, Youtube, Facebook, WhatsApp, TitTok, and Instagram are still the most used applications by customers during the holidays.

Several network quality improvement activities and centralized physical Command Center operations have been carried out to ensure customers enjoy the best digital experience. Dedicated tools & dashboards for proactive monitoring of network performance status and customers’ digital experience have succeeded in reducing customer complaints by 62% compared to the previous year.

Prior to the holiday period, Indosat Ooredoo also conducted network tests in several public and residential areas predicted to experience telecommunication traffic spikes, such as recreational areas, main roads, toll roads, rest areas, airports, bus terminals, train stations, and places of worship.
