Indosat Ooredoo Prepares Capacity to Handle 44 Petabytes Per Day

Entering the 2021 Christmas and welcoming the 2022 New Year (NARU) holiday, the government has advised the public not to travel and adhere to health protocols to break the spread chain COVID-19 in Indonesia.

Indosat Ooredoo, Indonesia's leading digital telco company, anticipates the increasing demand of customers’ digital activities during the holiday period through integrated network optimization and operation.

Based on the trend analysis conducted, Indosat Ooredoo predicts a 20-25% increase in data traffic compared to regular days, with the highest growth expected to occur in the Bodetabek, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and North Sulawesi. The network capacity prepared is 44 PB (Petabytes) per day, more than enough to serve peak data traffic with the expansion of video-based platforms. Entering the beginning of the 2021 NARU holiday period, Indosat Ooredoo has already recorded a 10% increase in data traffic nationwide.

Director and Chief Operating Officer of Indosat Ooredoo, Vikram Sinha, said, "Indosat Ooredoo is ready to accompany customers to fill their year-end holidays with a reliable and optimal network that complements several digital initiatives that have been launched. Several network quality improvement activities are carried out to ensure customers enjoy the best digital experience supported by more than 70 thousand video-grade 4G BTS.

Indosat Ooredoo activates a centralized physical Command Center during Christmas and New Year celebrations to monitor network availability and quality 24/7 supported by an AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) and Automation-based Network Operation Center.

Special tools & dashboards are available for proactive monitoring of network performance status and customers’ digital experience. Command center also implementing proactive monitoring for public and residential areas that are predicted to experience a traffic spike, such as recreation areas, main roads, toll roads, rest areas, airports, bus stations, rail stations, and worship places.

IMGaming, IMBeats, and IMove to support customers' digital lifestyle
Increasing customers’ digital experience during the holiday period, Indosat Ooredoo’s digital initiatives that have been previously launched in this 2021 are ready to accompany customers, ranging from a powerhouse of local music streaming application, IMBeats; a one-stop portal fun gaming application, IMGaming; until the first social wellness initiative with gamified concept platform and a unique lifestyle application, IMove.

These digital innovations in gaming, music, and sports offer a digital entertainment experience that enables strong user interaction and provides data quota gifts from Indosat Ooredoo. In addition, Indosat Ooredoo has also integrated several e-wallets, including OVO, GoPay, and IMkas, into its myIM3 application. In the future, there will be additional e-wallet payment options to support integrated UMB platforms such as ShopeePay, DANA, and LinkAja.
