While active bidding is continuing in 2100 MHZ, 1800 MHZ, 900 MHZ and 800 MHZ Bands, 61 rounds of bidding has been completed at the end of day 10 on Saturday, 14th March, garnering a total of INR 1,02,215 crore.
The bidding is taking place in all bands. Brisk bidding was seen on 10th day of bidding, with activity requirement set at 100%. There is robust bidding going on in 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz bands. At the end of 61st round, about 87% of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders.
The provisional amount committed by bidders at the end of 61st round is Rs.102215 Crore. Majority of service areas are going at a premium over reserve price.
The competitive bidding is expected to continue. There is still spectrum, which is yet to be sold. Next phase of bidding would recommence on Monday i.e. 16-03-2015 at 9AM.
Spectrum constitutes the basic building block of any telecom infrastructure and its scarcity is what is increasing its worth over time.
