  1. Enable Remote Assistance on the host computer.

Step 1. Right click “This PC” and choose “Properties” and choose “Remote Settings”.

Step 2. Under the “Remote” tab, check the box before “Allow Remote Assistance connection to this computer”. Then, click “Advanced” and check the box before “Allow this computer to be controlled remotely”.

Step 1. Press “Windows” + “R”, input “msra” and press Enter.

Step 2. Choose the first option, click “Save this invitation as a file” and save the file on your desktop. Then, a pop-up window with password will show up.

Warning: Do not close this window. If you close it, the connection will be canceled and you need to repeat the steps.

Step 3. Send the file and the password to the client computer.

Step 4. On the client computer, your partner needs to open the file, type the password in the entry bar and then click “OK”.

Step 5. After that, you’ll receive message ask whether you allow the client computer to connect to your computer. Click “Yes” and you can share your screen to your partner.

Step 6. To control the host PC, you partner need to click “Request control to send a request to the host computer”. Then, a message “Would you like to allow xx to share control of your desktop” will appear. Click “Yes” on the host computer and then, the host computer can be controlled.

To establish remote connection through Windows Remote Assistance might be a little bit complicated for some users. And the tool isn’t available for Windows 7 users. Step 4. Then, a pop-up window will pop up. The one who helps you can choose “input security code” and click “OK” to connect to your PC, if you have offered him/her the temporary security code.

If not, your friend or the technical professional can choose “Send a control request to your partner” and click “OK”. Then, you’ll get see a pop-up window with “Allow” and “Deny”. Click Allow to accept the control request and your partner can offer technical support for your Windows PC. Otherwise, your partner won’t connect to your computer successfully.
