The mobility of homecoming travelers during Eid al-Fitr is predicted to reach 71.7% of Indonesia’s total population. This mass movement is projected to increase Indosat’s data traffic by 17% compared to the daily average throughout 2024. Based on trends from previous years, the most significant surge in data traffic occurred in regions such as West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Lampung. This surge is driven by increased digital activities of the community, ranging from the use of social media and instant messaging applications such as TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to online games such as Mobile Legends, FreeFire, Roblox, PUBG, and Genshin Impact.

To anticipate the surge in data traffic, Indosat has increased its network capacity by about 32% larger than the daily average capacity. Additionally, the data traffic density during the peak moments of Eid is also anticipated by adding 2.145 new sites and 38 mobile BTS (MBTS). This addition is supported by a fiber optic network spanning over 51 thousand km and more than 224 thousand km of metro fiber optic access to strengthen signals at priority locations.

Indosat also optimizes the network on ten railway lines, 26 toll roads, including Trans Java and Trans Kalimantan, and 28 non-toll roads, such as Banjarmasin-Martapura and Merak-Carita. Furthermore, Indosat also optimizes the network at 531 points and 64 priority routes, such as tourist destinations, shopping centers, town squares, mosques, rest areas, airports, terminals, and stations.

More than two thousand technical officers of Indosat are in the field, and the Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Network Operation Center (INOC) team works 24 hours a day to ensure customers can communicate peacefully anywhere and anytime. Not only that, Indosat also ensures the readiness of the team by activating the Command Center 24/7 from April 7 to 13, 2024, as well as the Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Service Operation (ISOC) strengthened by Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) based systems and automation.

The readiness underlined Indosat’s commitment to enhancing the quality of its service to every Indonesian. Indosat continuously appreciates all customers' feedback to improve its services. Indosat has also authorized multiple channels, such as websites, official WhatsApp, social media accounts, and 24/7 call centers, to anticipate any potential hurdle and respond to customers’ feedback during homecoming and the Lebaran period.

Empowering the Local Economy

Furthermore, to strengthen network infrastructure ahead of Eid al-Fitr, Indosat also reaffirms its commitment to empowering the Indonesian community through local economic empowerment as part of the Indosat Berkah Ramadan program, which is part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program under the philanthropy pillar. Collaborating with various stakeholders, from employees and subsidiaries to customers, Indosat has distributed 115 'Gerobak Berkah' programs to mosque caretakers (marbot) in 57 locations throughout Indonesia. This program provides direct support through empowering small economic businesses conducted by marbots in various places.

Asep Mahmud, Al Mujahiddin Mosque Caretaker, West Jakarta, said, "I am grateful for the assistance from Indosat and its customers because, with this program, I received additional capital for my business and support facilities. In addition to my daily activities as a marbot, I can open new opportunities and earn additional income with a cart located in the mosque area."

"All efforts to bring happiness and blessings during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are part of Indosat’s commitment to realizing its larger purpose of connecting and empowering every Indonesian," concluded Vikram.
