Gionee A1 Plus Review | by Zia Askari | TelecomDrive.com in Los Angeles
Gionee launched its A1 Plus quite close on the heels of the launch of A1 bringing to the market a bigger screen, bigger battery, and a dual-camera unit.
All in all – delivering super rich experience for the user community. We reviewed this handset while on a business trip to Los Angeles, USA.
Whether it is exploring the surroundings of Staples Center in LA Live or the famous Hollywood locales – Gionee A1 Plus made it all an awesome experience.
Gionee – Entrenched in India
At a time when a lot of Chinese brands are still trying to cement their foothold in this highly growth-oriented and price-sensitive market – Gionee has been able to carve its own niche in the Indian market and establish a huge offline presence across India.
Gionee A1 Plus is recently launched in India with a bigger screen, bigger battery, and a dual-camera setup – which is fast becoming an integral part of smartphone offerings in India. A1 Plus weighs about 226g — which is quite heavy, but you have to consider the kind of battery power that the device is packing. Owing to its weight and form factor – we found this to be extremely good to hold (offers a firm grip) while moving across the city of Angeles.
When it comes to design – this device carries almost similar design when compared with the Gionee A1. The volume rockers are situated on the right bezel with the power button underneath. The left bezel of this device has the SIM card tray.
Front part of this device houses the home button that also has the built-in fingerprint sensor. And when it comes to display – this device offers great viewing experience powered by 6-inch IPS LCD full HD display. As a result, watching videos and movies is definitely going to be a great experience on this device.
The display of this device is well protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which protects the screen from minor scuffs and scratches – this helped us a lot while using this device extensively during our stay in Los Angeles. This is a great device for those who look forward to living life – king size. The handset feels solid and sturdy to hold.
This device from Gionee comes with a number of improvements in the spec sheet. The big change comes in the form of its new SoC. This comes with a MediaTek Helio P25 clocked at 2.6GHz on all eight cores. The A1 Plus sports 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable by up to 256GB. This handset is also compatible with VoLTE and ViLTE.
Camera is surely one of the primary features of this device. This handset offers great photography experience – powered by its dual-sensor rear camera set up and a 20MP unit along with lamp flash on the front. we used it while roaming around the city of Los Angeles and the results were good quite during the day as well as night times. The rear camera setup of this device carries a primary 13MP and a secondary 5MP sensor, which can help you enable the bokeh effect.
The City of Angeles – Los Angeles through the eyes of Gionee A1 Plus
Pictures taken with this device carry great detail and natural color reflection. We found that the camera is quite decent for selfies as well. All in all – the camera system of this device delivers well on creating images that are well composed and carry perfect color combinations.
Powerful – Battery
Battery is another big feature that can help you do more with less – with this device. The A1 Plus comes with 4550mAh and this can easily translate towards extensive usage of videos, music, gaming, movies and more.
While reviewing this device in LA – we used battery draining apps such as Google Maps and also managed to play games – all that did not drain the battery at all. We managed to use this for two days on a single charge. This is quite amazing and helpful to have a device like this – especially if you are traveling to foreign lands.
The A1 Plus also has a built-in intelligent quick charging feature that help you get more from the battery life. With the help of this feature – initially the phone charges at full speed, and this capability gradually reduces the voltage as the battery nears full capacity mark. We found that it takes just about 1.5 hours to completely charge this device from zero to 100 per cent – this is simply superb, as it can save a lot of time.
Great battery, wonderful camera system and a power packed performance – this is what Gione A1 Plus is all about.
Priced at INR 26,999, Gionee A1 Plus is a device for those who look for getting more from life – more power, more performance and more features – the phone has just about right capabilities to deliver great performance for next generation user.
