With a central theme of “Investing in innovation” – Russia-China Forum is set to open at the Open Innovations Forum in Moscow
On October 16, the Third Russian-Chinese Forum Investing in Innovation will open at the Open Innovations Forum. Representatives of government, business, start-ups and venture funds will discuss the development of bilateral cooperation, including that in the sphere of high technologies.
The forum will begin with the panel discussion Investment landscape of Russia and China: possible models of collaboration. The speakers will consider the trends of the venture capital market in China and the issue of establishing joint funds.
During the panel discussion on high technologies, Russian and Chinese experts will seek to determine what conditions are offered by financial exchanges in China and which technology companies are in demand in the Chinese market today.
“Cooperation between China and Russia in the field of scientific and technological innovation is developing rapidly. Chinese investors highly value the potential of Russian technology companies. This year, the Russian-Chinese Forum Investing in Innovation will be held for the third time, and for the first time – within the framework of the large-scale Open Innovations Forum. I am confident that the upcoming event will be successful,” said Xiu Xiaoping, Secretary General of the Venture Capital Professional Commission of the Science and Technology Financial Promotion Association of China.
The focus will be on technological startups. The discussion Infrastructure for start-ups: what to expect from the collaboration with Chinese corporations will be devoted to the possibilities of investing in developing Russian projects. There will then be a pitch session: representatives of six Russian technological start-ups will briefly present their projects to Chinese investors.
Speeches by the Secretary General of the Venture Capital Professional Commission of the Science and Technology Financial Promotion Association of China, Xiu Xiaoping, and the General Director of RVC JSC, Alexander Povalko, are scheduled for the official closing of the Russian-Chinese forum.
“Today, Russia and China fruitfully cooperate in many areas. One of the main common points of our countries’ interests is the sphere of innovations and new technological opportunities. As the world’s second largest economy after the USA, China is becoming an attractive market for Russian technology companies, and the country’s large financial markets can offer good tools for raising capital. Since 2014, RVC has built a system of partnership relations with key players in the Chinese venture and innovation industry. Our common goal is to lay the groundwork for the dynamic development of innovative business,” said Alexander Povalko, General Director of RVC JSC.
The Russian-Chinese Forum Investing in Innovation has been held annually since 2016. The organizers are RVC, the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center and the Venture Capital Professional Commission of the Science and Technology Financial Promotion Association of China. The forum is supported by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.
Open Innovations will be held at Skolkovo, Technopark, Moscow between 15th October and 17th October, 2018.
