Efficient Mobile Backhaul Critical to Meet Data Surge: NGPT 2014

Operators would be required to employ efficient mobile backhaul techniques in order to meet the ongoing data surge. This was expressed by the telecom experts at the fourth edition of Next Generation Packet Transport (NGPT) conference happened in Gurgaon on 23rd September 2014.

As part of the event, industry experts mulled on issues ranging from packet optical transport challenges like transition to 100G, 4G mobile backhaul and others including the ongoing data surge in India.

The global telecom industry leaders also spoke about latest research in the packet transport networks and the impact of emerging technologies such as SDN and NFV, which is set to play a critical role in reshaping the way telecom networks are likely to be architected in the near future.

The event saw keynote presentation from S Krishnan, Director (Technology), Videocon Telecom. His keynote was followed by a panel discussion with AK Bhargava, Director (Operations), BBNL; Ranjan Ghosh, General Manager- NOFN Planning, BSNL about the status and delivering on the promise of National Fiber Optic Network (NFON) program.
