Coolpad Mega 2.5d is the new smartphone by Coolpad – this is a truly remarkable device under this affordable price point of INR 6999. Additionally, this smartphone has everything from a large screen, to a great camera that one can expect in this price point and yes, it delivers wonderful selfies as well.

When we started reviewing this smartphone – it surely looks different than a usual smartphone of this price point. Firstly Coolpad’s Mega 2.5d is one such smartphone which fits that description of big-screen phones very well.

Priced at INR 6,999, this smartphone is one of the best looking budget smartphones in this price point. The smartphone is available only on Amazon.in at present – however, this could change considering the company’s plans to embrace the offline channel partners as well. And once that happens, it can add another dimension to its competitive advantage of becoming greatly available as well.

Wonderful Design

Even though this smartphone has a plastic body – it holds a great and unique design. The company has done a great job towards making sure that every customer holding this smartphone will feel as if it’s one of the best flagships available in the market.

It has a soft matte finish with a curved back design that adds to the sleekness of this device. And speaking about the weight – this smartphone weighs just 140g, which makes it one of the lightest big-screen smartphones in the market today.

Big Screen, with Sharp Display

This smartphone comes with 5.5-inch large display and carries a resolution of 1,280x720p – which is quite good and actually doing great justice to its screen size. While using this device, we realized that its screen looks incredibly clean and doesn’t pick up smudges at all.

When we reviewed it – the camera functions in a fast manner and it is easy to use. It delivers good color combinations, but its performance cannot be compared with high end cameras, however it fares well for this price band.

This is surely a great selfie smartphone and the results from the 8-megapixel front camera are quite good and surprisingly better even under indoor low light conditions. Hence, this can be a great companion for family get together where customers look for good selfie pictures under pressing lighting situations.

Super Performance – Cool Interface

When it comes to its chipset performance, the Coolpad Mega 2.5d is powered by a MediaTek MT6735P octa-core processor. This is paired with 3GB RAM.

This combination seems to be playing quite strongly for this smartphone as we did not feel any lag in performance while going through daily tasks such as posting on social media, watching videos on Hotstar, YouTube, browsing the Internet, etc. even while playing games such as Asphalt 8 or Real Racing 3. We also experienced no heating issue with this smartphone.

This smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage, however, the microSD option allows a user to add up to 32GB to it. As 4G holds great promise and most of the telecom networks are moving towards this next generation technology - another great thing about this smartphone is its support for 4G - both SIM slots support 4G networks.

On the down side, we did feel that this smartphone’s 2,500mAh battery is not enough as it was quite difficult to make it last one day with heavy usage.

With the kind of high specifications being offered with this smartphone – the Coolpad Mega 2.5d is a great smartphone in this price bracket and delivers more than what a user can expect in this price point.
