ConnecTechAsia, the inaugural mega technology event comprising BroadcastAsia, CommunicAsia and NXTAsia wrapped up an exciting three days of summits, exhibitions and seminars.
Over the past three days, visitors got to immerse themselves with the latest technologies across 5G, IoT, AI, Smart Cities, connected devices and OTT.
Here are some of the highlights that caught our attention today:
Video Consumption Redefined in a 5G Era
Ian Fogg, Vice President Analysis of Opensignal, shared how 5G developments in cable, satellite and mobile networks will pave the way for greater connectivity and change the way videos are consumed.
With video streaming platforms rising in popularity, Ian noted that videos have put a strain on 4G networks globally. As it matures, 5G is expected to greatly alleviate network capacity and enable many more people to watch high quality videos simultaneously.
Modernizing the Adaptive Network for the Digital Future
Tichur Vishwanathan, Senior Director of Century Link APAC, opined that businesses need a controllable, intelligent and secure adaptive network to drive superior business interactions and deliver a customer-first experience. A futuristic, adaptive network, should be software defined with centralised management capabilities, dynamic user control and better cost controls.
Esports Arena: Uncovering New Value
During the eSports arena panel session, industry experts from Ubique Networks, W12, SCOGA, TechStorm TV, La Liga, and XLIVE discussed the upcoming wave of eSports. Fabian Birgfeld, CEO of W12, shared his belief that 5G and the connectivity it provides will act as the driver for taking eSports to newer heights. This was met with agreement among the panelists who also shared extensively about the immense potential of commercialising eSports.
