CommVault has added data management and protection support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) that includes robust cloud reporting as well as self-service virtual machine provisioning, recovery and resource management with snapshot-based data protection.

As customers and partners rapidly adopt cloud architectures, CommVault has continued to invest in features that help them manage and protect workloads in the cloud, with particular emphasis on AWS. In addition to existing support for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and Amazon Glacier, CommVault has introduced automated virtual machine (VM) provisioning and lifecycle management for workloads running on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).

“CommVault recognized the trend toward cloud computing very early on and made significant investments over the past several years. As a result, we support a very broad set of cloud storage options within our software platform,” said CommVault chief operating officer, Al Bunte. “Our automation and optimization features for AWS allow customers, resellers and service providers to further take advantage of the flexible, scalable, pay-as-you-go AWS Cloud to reduce their costs, complexity and risks.”

CommVault has also been designated by Amazon Web Services as an Advanced Technology Partner, and a Storage Competency Partner in the AWS Partner Network (APN).

“The AWS Partner Network is an extremely important resource for our customers,” said Terry Wise, Director of Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “CommVault is one of our Advanced Technology Partners with the AWS Storage Competency in backup and archive, and we are excited to see them continue to innovate and improve the capabilities of their storage offerings for AWS customers.”
