Cisco has announced Optus Business as the first Australian telco provider of BroadCloud Calling – a complete cloud-based platform which enables service providers to deliver voice and collaboration services over IP-based networks.

From June, Optus Business will offer Australian enterprises a new cloud based Unified Communications service as Optus Cloud Calling.

Underpinned by Cisco’s BroadCloud platform, Optus Cloud Calling will offer Australian enterprises a complete cloud-based collaboration experience leveraging Cisco’s comprehensive collaboration portfolio. Capabilities will include enterprise telephony, native mobility and advanced conferencing and collaboration tools.

“With Optus Cloud Calling, enterprises will be able to capture cloud computing’s business efficiencies, cost benefits and competitive advantages for their telephony services,” said John Paitaridis, Managing Director of Optus Business. “Optus is pleased that we can bring these benefits to Australian enterprises in partnership with Cisco, the leading unified communications and collaboration vendor globally.”

Optus Business is a valued strategic partner,” said Ken Boal, Vice President of Cisco Australia & New Zealand. “We knew they were the right organisation to launch our BroadCloud offering and have it join their strong set of cloud-based collaboration solutions.”

“With tight integration to Cisco’s Webex solutions, organisations will gain access to advanced audio and video conferencing and Team collaboration applications. When combined with Optus Cloud Calling, customers will have access to an advanced collaboration toolset, that is fast to deploy, flexible, scalable and with a predictable cost.”

Optus will provide a complete end-to-end managed service bundled with its Evolve Voice SIP trunking and business mobile services. Optus is currently the first and only tier one telco in Australia to deploy the BroadCloud platform as a complete cloud-based solution.

Cisco announced the completion of its acquisition of BroadSoft in February 2018. BroadSoft accelerates Cisco’s cloud strategy and collaboration portfolio by adding the industry’s leading cloud calling and contact centre solutions to Cisco’s leading calling, meetings, messaging, customer care, hardware endpoints and services portfolio.
