The Cambodian ministerial delegation led by Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Post and Telecommunication was in India to explore the latest technologies in telecommunications for enhancing its developing telecom sector. The delegation visited the VNL’s model digital village of Karenda in Alwar district of Rajasthan.
Vihaan Networks Limited (VNL), a global telecom equipment manufacturer, has offered its sustainable and wide range of telecom solutions to Ministry of Post & Telecommunication (MPTC), Cambodia for implementation in rural Cambodia. The delegation visited VNL’s ‘Model Digital Village’ of Karenda in Alwar district, Rajasthan.
H.E. Tram Iv Tek, was impressed with the Digital Village and commenting on the visit, he said “I see many similar areas & requirements to use telecommunication as a platform for Digitization and establishing e-Health, e-Education, e-Governance services in remote areas of Cambodia. Our visit to Karenda defines how we see Digital Cambodia. We are welcoming the Indian Government’s assistance to deploy Digital Villages in rural Cambodia using Indian Technological innovation. To begin with, we are seeking $10 Million Grant from Indian government for a Pilot Project. We are keen to start immediately, since ICT will be a kick starter towards the socio-economic development of Cambodia”.
Extending his support to thanking the Government of India, he said, “I would like to thank the Government of India for its cooperation and a keen interest in helping Cambodia advance in the spheres of ICT and telecommunication”.
Commenting on India and Cambodia’s way forward in the telecommunications sector, VNL’s Founder and Chairman, Rajiv Mehrotra expressed, “We will extend our technology know-how to Cambodia and help the country by providing Digital Connectivity to uplift unserved and underserved parts of the country. Telecom penetration will help develop local skills, simplify processes and connect the innovations of the world with a call or a click. This will further create entrepreneurs at village level, and accelerate the economy. We are ready to extend the expertise and support to Ministry of Post & Telecommunication (MPTC), Cambodia”.
The Cambodian delegation’s visit to India is consequent to their visit early this year during India Telecom 2018, led by H.E. Meas Po, Under Secretary of State, MPTC. The delegation had visited Karenda to eye-witness how VNL brought digital transformation to the remote village. The follow-up visit has now reaffirmed the potential of a strengthening relationship between India and Cambodia.
Cambodia has already started preparations to work with India. The MPTC, Cambodia has created an efficient project team which will focus on cooperative and coordinative measures between the countries for the maximum output. The minister strongly appreciates India’s support.
