Asus, Zen Mobile Engaged in Legal Battle over Use of ‘Zen’ Brand

At a time when smartphone segment is gaining greater prominence in India – Asus India, a global smartphone vendor is being taken to court by New Delhi based Zen Mobile for allegedly using ‘Zen’ brand name without its consent.

“Asus has a sub brand called ZenFone where they are using Zen name. They have not taken consent from us, that is why we have taken legal action on this,” informed a source working at Zen Mobile, on conditions of anonymity.

On the other hand, when contacted Asus India has confirmed this development and sent the below statement.

"We, at ASUS, started our journey with the Zen series around 10 years back. This series works as a sub-brand under our smartphone range. At our end, we have spent three years promoting the series in the country. We will try our best to settle the case and continue to offer our audience reliable, quality focused products”, said Peter Chang, Regional Head - South Asia & Country Manager - ASUS India.
