Whether it is Venue WiFi, Social WiFi or Analytics driven solutions around WiFi – Aptilo Networks is brining new age innovations around carrier grade WiFi for its global customers.
Jan Sjonell, Managing Director, APAC, Aptilo Networks speaks with Zia Askari from TelecomDrive.com about the company’s key focus areas and how WiFi is gaining importance for the operator community today.
Today what are the priorities that are there for Aptilo?
Aptilo Networks is a global provider of carrier-class Wi-Fi service management and offloading solutions for the telecom operators, carriers, ISPs etc.
Wifi core side – for service management – we have a SMP – which includes AAA, policy solutions etc everything that an operator needs to monetize on Wi-Fi opportunities.
How does the company look at the ongoing emphasis towards public wifi happening in many parts of the world – including India.
I think this is a great opportunity. What’s driving this is the number of devices out there – WiFi devices and WiFi clients. There are billions and billions of them out there. Then, there are a huge number of WiFi only devices out there today. So, I think that all this is driving the market towards greater adoption of public WiFi. And especially for a country like India – an operator has to look towards maximum utilizing of spectrum and in a 3G or 4G scenario, operators look for offload and utilise whatever spectrum is available. With our Service Management Platform, we play a very important role in this space.
How many customers do you have globally, today?
We have around 200 customers – this number includes small and big customers. We have around 100 carriers as our customers today. This is an exciting space and we are moving ahead with new engagement with customers in different geographies.
How does the company look at the Indian market?
India is a very interesting market. We already have a few customers in India. We have a few wireless ISPs as our customers. BSNL is one of our customer in India – on the WiMax side. We sell through partners in India. So for India we have been working with Hyderabad based Icomm Tele, Tech Mahindra, Aviat Networks. We also work with Ericsson and Arris.
Moving forward what kind of innovations can we expect from Aptilo?
As an organization, we have huge focus towards delivering innovation for our customers.
Moving ahead, we will have many innovations around Analytics, Social WiFi, Venue WiFi and enterprise communication. We have already entered into the Wifi calling area. And then there is this emerging IoT segment.
